Community Midwives

The community midwives care for women throughout pregnancy and after birth, working with the GP’s and hospital services. Ante-natal clinics are held weekly in Beauly and Muir of Ord by appointment. Parentcraft classes are also held locally.

Health Visitors

The health visitors have a particular interest in pre-school children, and are responsible for developmental assessment, vision and hearing tests and immunisation. Along with the GP, they carry out post-natal examinations on mother and baby at 8 weeks. The GP also performs baby’s first immunisations at this appointment.

Following this, the health visitor can provide advice and support for a wide range of parenting and child health problems, along with the routine screening program to which you will be invited.
