Non-urgent advice: Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions are:

You can also:

  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday
  • post it to us
  • Serial prescribing (see below)

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.

Non-urgent advice: Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • A written letter or note at the Surgery
  • By using the online form

Non-urgent advice: Serial prescribing

Pharmacies are collaborating with GP practices to make it easier for patients to access their repeat medications. If you take regular medicines, you may be eligible for a 'serial prescription,' which allows you to collect your medicines directly from your pharmacy at eight-week intervals without needing to order a prescription from your doctor. The GP practice will issue a 12-month serial prescription, and your chosen pharmacy will dispense your medication. For any 'when required' medicines (used as needed, not regularly), you still need to follow the usual ordering process through the GP practice. If you're interested in serial prescriptions, contact your surgery for more information. Non-repeat medication must be requested in writing, and you may need to see a GP. Some pharmacies also offer prescription ordering via phone or online app

Non-urgent advice: Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • phone our pharmacist after 10am
  • fill in our medication query form.
    • The practice aims to respond to requests within 3 working days by telephone or text message. Please ensure your mobile phone number is up to date.

Non-urgent advice: Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

Non-urgent advice: What to do with old medicines

If you have unused medication which you no longer require, these can be safely disposed of at your local pharmacy. Please DO NOT dispose of them in general waste or down the toilet.
