Repeat Prescriptions

There are several ways in which you can order your repeat prescriptions.

  • On-line - you must register for this service by completing this form and then hand it into either practice, along with 1 form of ID.  This are available only to patients who have been specifically told that they do not always have to see the doctor before ordering more medicines.  PLEASE DO NOT USE THE PRACTICE EMAIL ADDRESS TO REQUEST PRESCRIPTIONS.

  • Repeat prescriptions can be requested using the repeat order form attached to the prescription. You can either post this or deposit it into the prescription box in the surgery.

  • Serial prescribing - Pharmacies are working with GP practices to help people get their medicines at the best time for them. If you are prescribed regular repeat medicines you may be able to have a ‘serial prescription’, if it’s thought suitable for you.  A serial prescription means that you can get your repeat medicines straight from a pharmacy without having to order a prescription from your doctor beforehand.  At the GP practice, we will issue a 12 month serial prescription for your regular medication to be dispensed at eight-weekly intervals at your pharmacy.  We will send this prescription to your usual pharmacy. A serial prescription means that from now on you will request your regular repeat medicines from your chosen pharmacy and not directly from your GP practice. Your community pharmacy will be able to explain this in more detail.

You will need to order any ‘when required’ medication (medicines that you take just when you need them, for symptoms, rather than regular medicines) through the current reordering process.  If you are interested in having serial prescriptions, please contact the surgery.

  • If you require any medication which is not on repeat, this must be requested in writing. We do not accept telephone requests and you may be asked to make an appointment with a GP.

  • You may also be able to order your prescriptions directly from your local pharmacy by phone or an on-line app - see your pharmacy for more details

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication may be asked to see a doctor or a member of the nursing team at least once a year to review these regular medications.  This will usually be done along with your "birthday review" if you are invited for these.  You may also be contacted by one of the pharmacy team.  Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.  Prescriptions may be suspended if your review is overdue.

Please allow four full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
